From the perspective of a Geiko-San, Meiko-San (and the whole community): Wait, we never really asked you to come, technically you aren’t really welcome, it’s more like: you can come, but if you will come you need to be respectful, you need to give everyone space. You can not violate anyone’s privacy. You are not entitled to take photos of them, you are not entitled to get close to them, block them. If you ever see one, if you are ever able to walk in a Geiko District, it is not entitlement, but it is a privelege, you get to witness this moving art. You get to stand in the streets and absorb this long standing history and culture. You need to feel this as a privelege, because this is a privelege, something that you should feel grateful for. – People are so consumed with what they want to do that the don’t understand the other person’s perspective.
